Concrete Replacement in Wilmington, NC
Cracked, sunken or broken concrete torn out and hauled away — then poured new on a solid base so it lasts this time.
When a driveway, patio or sidewalk has sunk, heaved from tree roots or is breaking into pieces, the problem is almost always underneath: a soft or washed-out base. Patching the surface will not fix that. We tear out the old concrete, haul it away, correct the base and drainage, and pour new concrete that is built to last.
You can replace the whole slab or only the damaged sections. When we replace sections, we saw-cut clean lines and match the new panels to the height and joints of the concrete that stays.
What you get
Tear-out & haul-off
Old concrete, asphalt or pavers removed and hauled away — included in the price.
Base fixed first
Soft spots dug out, new base compacted and grade corrected so water drains away.
Full or by sections
Replace the whole slab or only the sunken and broken panels.
Upgrade while you are at it
Make it wider, thicker for a truck, or switch to a stamped finish.
Not the cheapest bid. The one you won’t have to redo.
A cheap slab costs less on day one and more every year after — cracks, sinking, fading color. Here is what every MJ project includes that a low bid usually skips.
| Typical low bid | The MJ standard | |
|---|---|---|
| Base | Poured on whatever dirt is there | Excavated, graveled and compacted in lifts |
| Thickness | 3–3.5" to save material | 4" patios, 5–6" with rebar for heavy vehicles |
| Reinforcement | None, or fiber only | Wire mesh or rebar + fiber, sized to the load |
| Concrete mix | Cheapest available | 3,500–4,000 PSI, air-entrained for the coast |
| Control joints | Too few, or cut too late | Planned into the layout and cut the same day |
| Sealer | Optional or watered down | UV-stable sealer with anti-slip grit included |
| Supervision | Crew without the owner | Juan on every pour |
| Quote | One number, extras later | Line-item and in writing, no surprises |

Common questions: Concrete Replacement
How much does it cost to replace a concrete driveway or patio?
Concrete replacement in the Wilmington area usually runs $13–$16 per square foot including tear-out and haul-off of the old slab. A 600 sq ft 2-car driveway is roughly $7,800–$9,600. Stamped replacement is priced as stamped concrete.
Can you replace only part of my driveway or sidewalk?
Yes. We saw-cut out the damaged panels and pour new ones level with the concrete that stays, with joints in the same place so it looks planned.
How long does concrete replacement take?
Most driveway and patio replacements take 2–4 days: one day for tear-out and base, one for forms and pour, and finishing. You can walk on it in 24–48 hours and drive on it after 7 days.
