Frequently asked questions

General

Do you offer free estimates?

Yes. We visit your property, measure, talk through design options and leave you a written, line-item estimate at no cost. Most estimates in Wilmington are scheduled within the same week.

What areas do you serve?

We are based in Leland, NC and serve Wilmington and all of New Hanover, Brunswick and Pender counties, including Hampstead, Wrightsville Beach, Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, Southport, Castle Hayne, Ogden, Porters Neck, Rocky Point, Burgaw and Surf City.

How long does a concrete project take?

Most patios and driveways take 2–5 days from tear-out to finished pour, plus curing time. Stamped concrete is sealed after it cures. Weather can shift the schedule — we never pour into heavy rain.

Will my concrete crack?

All concrete can develop hairline cracks — it shrinks as it cures. We control that with a compacted base, the right reinforcement and properly spaced control joints, so any cracking happens in the joints where it is not visible.

What is the best time of year to pour concrete in Wilmington?

We pour year-round. Spring and fall are ideal; in summer we pour early in the morning and use curing methods for the heat, and in winter we watch overnight lows.

Stamped & Decorative Concrete

How much does a stamped concrete patio cost in Wilmington, NC?

Most stamped concrete patios in the Wilmington area run $20–$33 per square foot depending on pattern, number of colors, borders, access and site prep. A typical 400 sq ft patio lands between $8,000 and $13,200.

How often does stamped concrete need to be resealed?

In coastal North Carolina we recommend resealing every 2–3 years. It keeps the color rich, protects against salt and UV, and refreshes the slip resistance.

Is stamped concrete slippery around a pool?

Not when it is finished correctly. We add a grit additive to the sealer and can use lighter, more textured patterns that stay cooler and grippier under bare feet.

Concrete Driveways

How much does a new concrete driveway cost in Wilmington?

Standard broom-finish concrete driveways run about $13–$16 per square foot including tear-out of a typical existing driveway. A 2-car driveway of 600 sq ft is roughly $7,800–$9,600.

How soon can I drive on a new concrete driveway?

You can walk on it after 24–48 hours and drive a car on it after 7 days. Wait about 28 days before parking heavy trucks or trailers.

Do I need a permit for a driveway in Wilmington or New Hanover County?

Work in the public right-of-way, like a new curb cut or street apron, usually needs a permit from the City of Wilmington, the county or NCDOT. We tell you upfront what applies to your address.

Concrete Patios, Walkways & Steps

Concrete patio or pavers — which is better in Wilmington?

Concrete costs less per square foot, will not shift or grow weeds between joints, and is easier to keep clean. Pavers are easier to patch. For most backyards, a stamped or broom-finish concrete patio gives the best value.

How thick should a concrete patio be?

We pour residential patios at 4 inches over a compacted base, thickened at edges and anywhere a hot tub, outdoor kitchen or post footing will sit.

Concrete Pool Decks

How much does a concrete pool deck cost in Wilmington, NC?

Concrete pool decks typically run $15–$30 per square foot depending on finish (broom vs. stamped), colors, tear-out of the old deck and access to the backyard.

What is the safest concrete finish around a pool?

A textured finish — stamped stone, knockdown or broom — sealed with a grit additive. Smooth, glossy finishes look great dry but get slippery when wet.

Concrete Slabs, Pads & Sidewalks

How thick should a concrete RV or boat pad be?

We pour RV and boat pads 5–6 inches thick with rebar over a compacted base. Standard 4-inch slabs are fine for cars, sheds and walkways, but heavy point loads from trailer jacks need more.

How much does a concrete slab cost in Wilmington, NC?

Plain concrete slabs and sidewalks usually run $10–$16 per square foot depending on thickness, reinforcement, site prep and finish. Small pads have a minimum job charge.

Concrete Repair, Resurfacing & Sealing

Should I repair or replace my cracked driveway?

If the slab is level and the cracks are narrower than about 1/4 inch, repair or resurfacing usually makes sense. If panels have sunk, lifted or are breaking into pieces, replacement is the better long-term value.

How long does concrete resurfacing last?

A properly bonded overlay on sound concrete typically lasts 10–15 years in the Wilmington climate when it is resealed every few years.

Pergolas, Covers & Decks

How much does a composite deck cost in Wilmington, NC?

Composite decks with railing typically run $35–$65 per square foot depending on height, board line, railing and stairs. A 14×20 ft deck is usually $9,800–$18,200.

Do I need a permit for a pergola or deck?

Attached decks, roofed covers and most structures over a certain size need a building permit in Wilmington and the surrounding counties. We handle drawings and permits as part of the project.
